A windy afternoon out

About 1430 I decided to take the camera and go to the river side where I went the other day. The afternoon was hot and sunny, so I thought it a good idea as the mist would have cleared across the river.

Driving along through Lower Helstow I felt the wind buffeting the car but it didn't seem that bad. On reaching the first lay-bye I got out of the car and boy was I wrong , the wind was very strong (checking later gusting  a force 7).

I set up the camera on my tripod and took a few shots. I then sat in the car to review them. the wind had shaken the camera that they were out of focus. I decide to move to a more sheltered place along the road.

The next lay-bye was one bend in the road which gave a bit of shelter. I set up and it was not quite so bad but I never got a very clear picture using a 300mm telephoto lens. I did try a few time and got some reasonable shots.

This was the best in focus of the Grain power station

One of the few that did come out right

I have tried very hard to get the breaking wave and this is the best of what I could get. It is the first time I have tried this.

After this I took off down the road to see what else there was and came across these cattle. They let me take a few shots but the wind was causing more trouble with camera shake.

Here's looking at you kid.

This last one is to show just how the wind was effecting the camera on a reasonable tripod.

This would have been a good shot if it had focused.

Maybe I shall have more luck next time.

  2. No I did not know the farm Eileen, but it does look as if I may go there. It also looked sheltered from the wind. the waves in my picture say it all.

Kendo never liked spending money, so what's changed, er nothing (:-)
