Back in action

Hi All,
After a few days laid up I am back on here, well almost as I did my back this morning (bad news) This is an old war wound  from when I was working. Back in oh around 2001 I carried A 21 inch monitor, this compressed my spine and every so often lets me know that I was a silly boy.

Enough of that, I had a nice chat with Mike this afternoon and when we had finished I went out and took a couple of pictures of the moon. This is the first time that I use the extender with this lens so it takes it to around 800.

400

800

I have tried to keep the two pictures the same size.

It is harder than you would think to get the moon right as it is a bright blob in a dark space.
If you want to try is just take a lot of pictures at different settings until you are happy.

I did manage a picture off Jupiter with it's four moons but it was out of focus and trailed. It needs a telescope set up to do it as it is so small at 440 million miles away.

I hope to be back tomorrow with luck.

  5. Thanks for all of your comments.

No filter Dave but I am sure I can improve with the 800. It need a little more on the focus.

Well Sue it has been proved that when there is an object close to the Moon it will always look bigger. If you are coming up hill and see the Moon close to the top of the hill it will always look bigger than when you get over the top. You can try this out with a mirror but you need a biggish one.

  7. Thanks Eileen, I have taken a P/killer this morning which is helping me to get about.
Trouble is I don't know how long the back will hurt for, sometimes it is only a day or two others.....
