Now you see it now you don't

Mike, Sue and Me were up early this morning (around 0530) to head off to Ramsgate to get a good view of them blowing up the Richborough Water towers.

We manage to get there around 0715 and picked out the best place to over look the event. The West Cliff cliff's were the place to go, this proved popular with 1000's of others. We were there first.

The bay was misty and it was a matter of fingers crossed. The towers were going to be blown at 0900.

Well this is how it went. 

0730

No 1 goes

 We all mist the first going off but this was about 2 minutes past nine.

No 2 Goes with No 1 down

No2 almost down

No 3 blown No2 still falling

Chimney Blows  No 3 falling No2 down 

Chimney blown and starts going down

Chimney still falling 2 and 3 down

All down but dust rising

Dust still rising

It seems to me to be ages before I heard the bang. I thought it was 30 seconds but it was nearer 15 I bet.

 All over by 0905 but a lot of dust.

By 0915 it was like they were never there, the landscape will never be the same.

I am glad that I saw this as I have seen them on TV but never in real life.

After this we set off to the Manston Museum  where Mike took a few pictures. 

Then it was off to see the rubble, but you will have to wait until tomorrow for that.

A sad day but also a brilliant one.
